    - The production of compost is a delicate balance between oxygenation and the temperature of the material. A real follow-up is necessary. Oxygen is the key to the success of composting: it allows the development of aerobic bacteria and it is they that allow the degradation of organic matter while releasing heat. In the absence of air, anaerobic bacteria develop and generate odorous gases that can be a source of inconvenience for the neighborhood .

    - Oxygen is essential to the life of organisms. Good ventilation will result in a good decomposition of organic matter (if the other parameters are present). On the other hand, poor ventilation will trigger anaerobic processes that will produce bad odors! It is during the degradation phase (also known as "fermentation") that the mixture must be ventilated. Aeration can be done basically by flipping, or by means of static devices, such as aeration rails under the compost through which air is breathed into the mixture.
